the garden district, new orleans

everyone says that you have to go on a walking tour of the garden district, and they're right. the homes are regal, colorful, and historical. the whole neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, especially during spring when the flowers are blooming. there are plenty of places that do walking tours, but you can also make your own (for free!), like i did, by following along with an online guide (like the frommer's walking guide) on your phone. an added bonus: you can ride the adorable street car back to the french quarter afterwards.
